Update Committee Workshop 8/21 at Palenville Fire Department

Thanks to all who attended our committee workshop, held regularly the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30.  Last night’s meeting was held in Palenville at the Fire Department.  We thank them for hosting the meeting and we’ll post our next site for September shortly. 

The Town Board fielded several comments from members of the community and wanted to share actions and next steps with those who couldn’t attend:

1.  Concerns regarding increased speed, noise and litter were expressed.  We contacted local law enforcement and provided them the locations where speeding is prevalent and they will provide increased surveillance.  We will post our noise ordinance via a link on our website with contact information for Greene County Sheriff and NYS Troopers.

2. Concerns regarding creek access were discussed at length.  The town will request complaint data from Greene County Sheriff  and NYS Trooper data for review.  Volunteers from the community will also photograph creek activity to add to the complaint data if they would like to do so. The town will contact the NYS DOT regarding the land that is used for parking across from the church to assess possible steps to be taken.  The town will convene a working group of citizens, representatives from the United Methodist Church and Palenville Fire Department along with input from the DEC and DOT.  This group will convene in the first quarter of 2020 so that a plan is in place for Spring/Summer of 2020.

3.  The town will share the information on lead remediation and confirm whether there is a program in place which we’ve heard anecdotally is the case.
