TOWN OF CATSKILL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED LOCAL LAW 4 OF 2010 DOG LICENSING
Public notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Catskill will be holding a Public Hearing on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 6:00 pm at Catskill Town Hall, 439-441 Main Street, Catskill, NY. The purpose of this public hearing will be to review proposed Local Law 4 of 2010 Dog Licensing. Public comment will be accepted at this time and any and all interested persons are welcome to attend.
By Order of the Catskill Town Board
Elizabeth C. Izzo
Catskill Town Clerk
Acting Supervisor stated we are amending this chapter because NYS is mandating that dog licensing become a local function as of January 1, 2011.
Town Clerk Izzo stated the fees will be set by a yearly resolution. She stated there needs to be at least a five dollar minimum between altered and unaltered dog. The State will collect a one dollar and a three dollar mandatory fee for a spay/neuter program. Acting Supervisor stated all the monies received beside the mandatory State fee will remain in the Town.
The only other change was the fee assessed for a dog brought to the Humane Society. The first offense is $75 if the owner claims the dog within 24 hours and $150 after 24 hours. Second offense $150.00 within 24 hours and $305 after 24 hours plus actual impoundment costs both offenses.
With no further comment a motion to adjourn the public hearing was made by Councilman Antonelli and seconded by Councilman Lennon. Meeting ended 6:10 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Elizabeth Izzo
Town Clerk
