Just before 2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 1st, Palenville Fire Department was dispatched to a family trapped in a building at 59 Pennsylvania Avenue. The call was reported by Town Highway Superintendent Alfie Beers stating that the flood waters had risen around the residence. Within minutes and with the waters continuing to rise, Palenville Firefighter John Killinger and Supt. Beers carefully approached the residence from the South Side in a Town Highway Vehicle. They were eventually able to reach the mother and her two year old son and guided them to safety. Both victims were taken to the Palenville Fire Station unharmed.
