                Joseph Leggio,  Councilman
                Robert Antonelli,       Councilman
                Lewis O’Connor, Councilman

                Elizabeth Izzo, Town Clerk

Supervisor Izzo opened the public hearing with a moment of silent prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Town Clerk read the notice of the public hearing.

Supervisor Izzo stated the reason for the public hearing is for anyone who has any concerns in the budget.  Supervisor Izzo handed out a synopsis of the 2008 budget.

The Supervisor stated that a Village resident, with an assessed tax rate of $91,000, will see a tax decrease of $11.83.  For a Town resident, with an assessed value of $99,200, the change in the tax is $4.96.  A Village commercial property, with an assessed value of $314,600, increase of $40.90.  A Town commercial property, with an assessed value of $283,500 has an increase of $14.18.

Any recommendations made by the public and the Board will be considered after the public hearing.  Councilman Antonelli would like to add the Town Administrator’s position into the budget.   Councilman O’Connor would like to add $15,000 to the budget for the use of the Village Trolley system, which is not yet operational.  The route would be once a week to the Palenville/Kiskatom area and once a week to the Jefferson Heights/Leeds/South Cairo area.  Supervisor Izzo stated that funding would come from the outside general fund.  This would need to be a contract with the Village of Catskill and they would be maintaining the trolley which is to include hiring/insurance.

Councilman Leggio asked about the recreation fields on Embought Road.  Supervisor Izzo stated that that amount is not anticipated to come out of the budget.  Councilman Leggio also asked about the $2,000 increase for the Senior Citizen club.   Supervisor Izzo said these items will be discussed at the Board meeting immediately following the public hearing.

Motion to adjourn the public hearing made by Councilman Antonelli and seconded by Councilman Leggio & Walsh.  Meeting adjourned at 6:15 pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Elizabeth Izzo, Town Clerk.
